Be Inspired

Tell us how you got started

I’ve always had a passion for traveling, however my travel increased when I set out on an #EatPrayLoveTravel journey once I lost my grandfather, boyfriend, and my line sister in the matter of 14 months. I needed to rediscover myself, learn to live again in this new normal, and wandering the world helped to heal my soul. As a result, Wanderful L.A.W.S. was born to inspire people to travel & trust the journey.

How does traveling make you feel?

Traveling sets my soul on fire. It invigorates me and helps me to appreciate & embrace the diverse cultures of the world. One of the best parts about traveling is connecting with people from different backgrounds and listening to their stories.

Where did you receive your 1st passport stamp?

Honestly I can’t remember. I do recall my first international trip was The Bahamas when I was 12, however, at that time I only needed a birth certificate to travel there (geez, I’m def dating myself 🤦🏾‍♀️! Lol). Perhaps Jamaica was the 1st official tatt on my passport.

Other than your passport what is one thing you can not travel without.

My cell phone! Not because I like to chop it up with my folks at home because I really like to disconnect & take in the destination but rather because it has so many much needed apps: YouVersion Bible app (reading daily devotionals is a must regardless where I wander), Google Translate, Xe foreign currency app, Google maps & WhatsApp…just to name a few essential travel apps!

A time something went wrong while traveling and how was it resolved?

I was stuck ALL day in Havana Cuba’s airport trying to get back to NYC due to weather – it was a struggle! I had already used my Cuban pesos of course you can only use cash there. Not to mention, the food options were really slim…I swear it was one restaurant. After starving majority of the time, JetBlue finally comp’d passengers a meal for the extreme delay as well as a travel credit. Longest, hungriest day ever!

Advice to new travelers traveling internationally.

Take copies of your passport and store them in different parts of your luggage just in case your passport is lost/stolen. And travel now instead of waiting until you retire – you won’t be able to climb the Great Wall of China as smoothly at 70 as you will at 35 😉.
